Commitment to Corporate Responsibility and Fulfillment of Ethical and Social Due Diligence Obligations

Heinerle-Berggold hereby defines its Code of Conduct, which outlines the company’s responsibilities within the framework of corporate due diligence. This includes compliance with legal requirements, social standards, responsibilities toward employees and the environment, continuous improvement of food quality and safety, and the highest commitment to our customers.

We stand firmly for equal treatment and fairness in the workplace. We categorically reject and condemn any form of discrimination – whether in hiring, salary, training opportunities, promotions, terminations, or retirements – based on gender, age, religion, ethnicity, disability, nationality, sexual orientation, or any other personal characteristics. We fully implement the provisions of the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG). If employees feel they have been treated unfairly, they may contact the company’s appointed Equal Opportunity Representative.

We consider it a matter of course to source raw materials in a socially responsible manner. We are committed to actively addressing social grievances and environmental destruction to ensure a sustainable supply of high-quality cocoa and other raw materials. Our efforts in sustainable cocoa farming follow recognized social and environmental standards. We are proud to be certified by Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade for Cocoa and will continue working to maintain these certifications. These initiatives are among the world’s largest sustainability efforts, supporting small-scale farmers in origin countries to improve working conditions and combat issues like child labor and forced labor.

All forms of exploitation and child labor are prohibited under the conventions of the ILO and the United Nations and are not tolerated in any way. The use of physical punishment, coercion, or verbal abuse is strictly prohibited. Every employee has the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining. Compliance with applicable wage and benefit regulations and industry standards is mandatory, and illegal or unjustified wage deductions are not tolerated.

An effective anti-bribery and anti-corruption policy is essential to promote ethical business practices and ensure fair dealings with all stakeholders. Such a policy not only reduces risks but also builds trust in the integrity of our company.

It is of great importance to us that our products are manufactured throughout the entire supply chain in compliance with recognized social and environmental standards. For this reason, we have asked our business partners to voluntarily commit to our Supplier Code of Conduct. This ensures that labor and social standards, in accordance with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), are observed by both us and our partners.
